What Affects Radio Streaming Usage?
Bandwidth usage increases according to your audio bitrate, audience size and the amount of time those listeners stay connected.
Streaming Bitrate
A higher bitrate transfers more audio data every second. For example, a 256 kbps stream consumes twice as much bandwidth as a 128 kbps stream under the same listening conditions.
Connected Listeners
Internet radio streams send audio separately to each connected listener, so bandwidth increases directly as your simultaneous audience grows.
Listening Time
The longer your audience remains connected each day, and the more days that listening occurs, the greater your monthly data transfer becomes.
Bitrate is supplied in kilobits per second. Dividing by 8 converts bits to bytes. The calculator then multiplies the resulting data rate by listening time and simultaneous listeners before converting the result into displayed bandwidth units.
